Bleeding Green and White

Football is FINALLY back! Thursday night, the new season opens with the Packers taking on the Saints. I’m just going to come out and say this now. If I wasn’t such a die-hard Jets fan I would switch to the Packers in a heartbeat. And that has nothing to do with the recent Super Bowl win and EVERYTHING to do with Aaron Rodgers….yes I would pick a team based alley on the attractiveness of the quarterback! I mean come on, the guy is gorgeous! Thank god the Jets have Mark Sanchez or I might be finding it a LOT harder to remain true to my team!
Ok. Now that I got that off my chest, let’s move on to the important things…the final 53 man roster of the Jets! I have to saw I’m pretty happy with it. It stinks Greg McElroy had to go on IR but Kevin O’Connell is a capable #3 QB. He already knows the Jets offense and coaching staff having been a Jet previously. Dwight Lowery being traded to get down to 53 also isn’t too concerning. I think the Jets secondary is strong as it is and it’s only fair to let him play somewhere else. As for waiving Aaron Maybin, I’m not sure that he played great in the preseason. You have to earn the right to play for the Jets and I don’t think he earned a spot. That being said, I am concerned about the continual lack of pass rusher. In order to beat Tom Brady you need to get to him and pressure him and I don’t know if the Jets have a player who can do that. We’ll find out Oct. 9 when the Jets travel to Foxborough. Hopefully the result will be favorable for the Jets!
